About 3/4″ Bottom Bowl Gouge – CPM10V
Many years ago, Jerry Glaser designed this tool for his friend Howard Lewin, who was searching for a gouge capable of making the final cleanup cut inside a bowl—specifically the transition between the sidewall and the bottom.
The result was the Glaser Bottom Bowl Gouge, a specialized tool designed to produce exceptionally clean and smooth finishes in this critical area of bowl turning.
As with all Glaser tools, the gouge reflects Jerry Glaser’s pioneering work in developing proper flute geometry, balanced mass, and outstanding stability for demanding turning operations.
Each flute is precision ground on advanced CNC grinding machines, then hardened and cryogenically tempered. The tool is further enhanced with our proprietary Surface Compacting Technology, which refines the steel surface and produces a micro-burr structure that improves cutting performance at the edge.
This tool is supplied sharpened with a 65° grind, allowing it to be used immediately. Turners may choose to maintain this grind or modify it to suit their personal preference.
