About 1/2″ Oval Bowl Gouge CPM15V
This is where Jerry Glaser raises the performance level and cements his reputation as a visionary. He was the only toolmaker in the world to understand and use the properties of CPM15V in a woodturning tool.
This superb material is intended for applications requiring exceptional wear resistance. It has more vanadium carbides in its composite than CPM10V and provides more wear resistance and longer tool life. CPM15V also offers an alternative to solid carbide where carbide fails by fracture or where intricate tool design makes carbide difficult or risky to fabricate. Due to it’s 15% vanadium content CPM15V will outwear CPM10V.
In 1966 Jerry was immediately famous for devising the proper flute angles, proper mass and stability” for most demanding turning operations. The flute shapes of our tools are precision ground using state of the art CNC Grinding Machines. Then, they are hardened and cryogenically tempered and subjected to our proprietary “Surface Compacting Technology”. The process creates a “micro burr” surface which proves to be “extremely effective” on the cutting edge of the tool.
