About 1-1/4″ x 8tpi Screw Chuck
The Glaser Hitec Screw Chuck is a patented design and the only American-made chuck of its kind. Engineered for strength, precision, and ease of use, it provides a fast and secure method for mounting workpieces on the lathe.
At its center is a hardened medical-grade stainless steel screw mounted in an anodized aluminum body. The screw features a specially ground thin, non-tapered thread designed to penetrate wood cleanly while minimizing damage to the workpiece.
The chuck comes standard with a reversible 3½″ faceplate, which screws over the chuck body to provide additional support. Optional 4½″ and 5½″ faceplates are also available for mounting larger workpieces.
For facework or centerwork, simply drill a ¼″ hole in the stock and thread it onto the chuck. The screw grips securely—even in end grain—where many other screws fail. Mounting and removing work is quick and reliable, making the Glaser Screw Chuck a favorite among production turners.
Work removed from the lathe can be accurately remounted without loss of alignment. The Glaser Screw Chuck is also ideal for mounting jam chucks and wooden faceplates.
