In 1966 Jerry Glaser introduced his Oval Bowl Gouges, thereby providing the woodturning world with a superior tool, of proper flute angle, appropriate mass and here-to-fore never achieved stability, capable of meeting the most demanding wood turning operations.
The flute shapes are precision ground using state of the art CNC Grinding Machines. Then, they are hardened and cryogenically tempered and subjected to our proprietary “Surface Compacting Technology” which enhances the surface of the steel. The process creates a “micro burr” surface which proves to be “extremely effective” on the cutting edge of the tool.
Although sharpened, the initial grind is placed just to allow the woodturner to start using the tools right away. It is up to the user to determine if he/she wants to keep the same grind shape after initial use.
