About 1/2″ Oval Bowl Gouge CPM15V
With the introduction of CPM 15V steel, Jerry Glaser once again pushed the performance of woodturning tools to a new level. He was among the first toolmakers to recognize and apply the unique properties of this advanced material to woodturning tools.
CPM 15V is specifically designed for applications requiring exceptional wear resistance. With a higher concentration of vanadium carbides than CPM 10V, this steel provides outstanding durability and significantly longer tool life. In many applications it offers an effective alternative to solid carbide, particularly where carbide may fail by fracture or where complex tool geometry makes carbide difficult to manufacture.
With its 15% vanadium content, CPM 15V delivers remarkable wear resistance and performance during demanding turning operations.
Jerry Glaser first gained recognition in 1966 for developing turning tools with proper flute geometry, balanced mass, and exceptional stability—qualities that remain fundamental to Glaser tools today.
Each flute is precision ground on advanced CNC grinding machines, then hardened and cryogenically tempered. The tools are further enhanced using our proprietary Surface Compacting Technology, which refines the steel surface and produces a micro-burr structure that improves cutting performance at the edge.
