About 3/4″ Skew Chisel – CPM10V

A skew chisel is a long, flat, bevel-edged tool with an angled cutting edge. The longer point of the edge is known as the toe, while the shorter point is called the heel.

The skew chisel is one of the most versatile tools in woodturning. It can be used for roughing spindle blanks, producing beads and grooves, smoothing straight or convex surfaces, trimming end grain, and making precise V-cuts. Because of its precision, the skew is considered one of the fundamental tools every woodturner must master.

Geometrically, the skew functions like a knife held at an angle to the wood, allowing it to slice cleanly and produce an exceptionally smooth surface.

When you first pick up a Glaser Hitec Skew, the difference is immediately noticeable. Manufactured from our premium Flagstaff Steel (CPM 10V), the tool delivers exceptional wear resistance and cutting performance. The blade is secured into the handle using a proprietary aircraft-grade aluminum adapter, fastened with two stainless steel screws to provide superior strength and stability.
